Six-Video Deadline: Community Campaign Studio

Media & CommunicationsLevel 3 · 12–15 hrs10 sessions · 75–90 minutesTeam 4–6 (5 is ideal; see roles)Pilot brief, draft

Six short videos, one per program, for our "Find Your Place at Maple Street" campaign.

Client scenario

Welcome to Studio 3. You're the newest production crew at a small video studio that makes content for community organizations. Today we got a job with a hard deadline.

Client: The Maple Street Community Center (fictional), a neighborhood center that runs six programs for kids, families and seniors. Its outreach coordinator is our client contact.

Too few neighbors know what the center offers. The center wants a short video for each program to play on the lobby screen and at its open house.

Roles

  • Producer / Project Coordinator
  • Story Lead
  • Editor(s) (1–2)
  • Graphics & Caption Designer
  • Quality & Delivery Manager

The twist: "Our Senior Lunch Club is paused for kitchen repairs. Please replace Video 4 with our Winter Coat Drive (new fact sheet attached). Same deadline."

Standards mapped

Mapped means the framework is verified and the teacher confirms the evidence. It isn't a claim that a project meets a standard.

  • NACE (Dec 2025)
  • ED Employability Skills Framework
  • CA Standards for Career Ready Practice
  • CCSS ELA
  • ISTE Students

Not tagged in this brief: NGSS SEP, CCSS Math.

Safety, devices and privacy

  • School devices only. No phones, and no personal accounts. Use the school's approved editor with school-managed logins, or an offline editor.
  • Footage is teacher-provided by default. Student filming is optional, needs consent, and must show no faces. Hands, objects, places and screens are fine. Film only on school devices, and only on school grounds or wherever the teacher approves.
  • No student names, faces, voices or personal information in the videos. Messages are carried by on-screen text and captions. Credits use team number and role only (for example "Produced by Team 3").
  • Music: only the teacher-provided royalty-free tracks. Nothing downloaded from personal accounts or random websites.
  • Videos are shown in class. Sharing them outside the class is the school's decision and needs the school's media-release process.
  • Adults handle any building equipment (for example a lobby screen or projector for the screening).

Creative Dad On the Job is in-class client project work. It is not a paid, off-campus On-the-Job Training (OJT) placement.
