Turn our confusing auditorium turnover procedure into a 15-minute training that new hires can follow on day one.

Client scenario

Welcome to the training team. Marquee Six Cinemas (fictional) is a 6-screen movie theater. It's hiring 20 seasonal staff for the busy season, and most have never worked in a theater. The training manager has a problem: the staff manual's page on cleaning an auditorium between showings is so confusing that new hires skip steps, and turnovers run late.

Client: The Training Manager (the teacher in role).

New hires can't follow the auditorium turnover procedure as written. They need a short training they can follow on day one.

Roles

  • Training Project Lead
  • Instructional Designer
  • Job Aid Designer
  • Trainer
  • Evaluation & Quality Lead

The twist: The training manager hands over the Procedure Change (H3): there is a new safety step (gloves on, and a scan for sharp objects that are never picked up by hand), and the checklist is reordered (the lost-item check now comes before the trash pickup). The training is still tomorrow.

Standards mapped

Mapped means the framework is verified and the teacher confirms the evidence. It isn't a claim that a project meets a standard.

  • NACE (Dec 2025)
  • ED Employability Skills Framework
  • CA Standards for Career Ready Practice
  • CCSS ELA

Not tagged in this brief: NGSS SEP, CCSS Math, ISTE Students.

Safety, devices and privacy

  • Paper practice only. The practice activity uses index cards and classroom chairs as "seats". No real cleaning, trash, chemicals or equipment, and no sharp objects even as props: a card that says "broken glass" stands in for it.
  • No visits. Students don't visit a real theater or contact real staff.
  • School devices only. No phones, not even as timers or props, and no personal accounts.
  • No photos or recordings of students. Filming the rehearsal is optional and only with consent, on a school device, with no faces, and deleted after the review. No student names or personal information on any deliverable. Sign work "Team [#]".
  • Scores stay anonymous. Check-for-understanding scores are collected as "New hire A, B, C…", never with names.
  • Follow the school's usual classroom rules.

Creative Dad On the Job is in-class client project work. It is not a paid, off-campus On-the-Job Training (OJT) placement.
