Plan our one-day spring conference for 150 people, within $9,000, so members leave with ideas, contacts and a reason to come back.
Client scenario
Welcome to the planning firm. The Lakeshore Small Business Association (fictional) holds a one-day conference every spring for its members: shop owners, cafe owners and tradespeople. This year it has hired your firm to plan it. The events chair has a budget, three venue quotes, a caterer and a speaker list, and needs a plan she can approve.
Client: The Events Chair (the teacher in role), who reports to the association's board.
150 people need a well-run, accessible day of talks, workshops and networking, for no more than $9,000.

The twist: Part 1, Change Memo (H3): the keynote speaker cancels, and the caterer raises all prices by 15%. A local speaker can replace the keynote for $800, with no travel. The chair asks the team not to pass the whole increase to members: the fee may rise by $2 at most. Part 2, Weather Note: the forecast moves the outdoor lunch inside, which cuts the space available in the main hall.
Standards mapped
Mapped means the framework is verified and the teacher confirms the evidence. It isn't a claim that a project meets a standard.

Safety, devices and privacy
Everything is a plan on paper or a school device. No phones, and no personal accounts. Students don't contact real venues, caterers or speakers.
Vendor emails are drafts only. Each one is marked DRAFT, NOT FOR SENDING and goes to the teacher, never to a real address.
The event is fictional. Students don't visit venues. Measuring the classroom to understand square footage is optional, with a tape measure on the floor only: no climbing or moving furniture.
Accessible, respectful planning. Plans include step-free access, seating, dietary needs and quiet space without guessing about anyone's needs beyond the brief.
No photos of students. No student names or personal information on any deliverable. Sign work "Team [#]".
Low-cost, school-realistic materials only. Follow the school's usual classroom rules.
Creative Dad On the Job is in-class client project work. It is not a paid, off-campus On-the-Job Training (OJT) placement.
